IMPORTANT NOTES
-
The convention process is the democratic and grassroots method the Democratic Party uses to elect its leadership and determine its direction. Conventions are the highest decision-making authority of the party at that level - be it county, state, or national. Starting locally, activists are elected to higher-level conventions, making decisions about the party’s future as they go.
-
Membership to the Democratic Party of Benton County / County Committee is open until the convention begins, with no waiting period or cost for voting eligibility.
-
Individuals must be a resident of Benton County and of 14 years of age or older to be a member for the County Committee to vote during the county convention.
-
DNC and DPA rules require that delegations to the State Committee & State Convention be balanced by gender. Representatives from a county must be as divided as equally as possible between men and women (determined by gender self-identification) meaning that the variance between men and women cannot exceed one. In the case of gender non-binary delegates or committee members, they shall not be counted as either a male or female, and the remainder of the delegation shall be equally divided.
This is a great opportunity to actively participate in shaping the future of our party, our state, and our nation. Your involvement and voice are vital to our success, and we look forward to seeing you at the convention.
